A New Era of Wellness, Structure, and Strategic Tea Deployment Begins at Lost Lake
SHELTON, WA — Camp Thurston proudly announces the grand opening of the Preston Rivers Memorial Wellness Center, a bold and restorative addition to our beloved summer camp. Tucked into the quiet back room of the lodge, the Wellness Center is already being hailed as a haven for rest, recalibration, and sometimes a little redirection.
Led by Director of Wellness Michael Butcher, the center offers a robust curriculum in calm. Campers visiting Dr. Butcher can expect thoughtfully guided experiences such as:
Affirmations & Spanking
Meditation & Posture Correction
Mindfulness, Journaling, and Mantra Work
Tea as Aftercare
Dr. Butcher is joined by the indispensable Nurse Josephine Drake, whose reputation for firm care and sharper assessments precedes her. Campers mistakenly viewing the infirmary as a loophole will find it instead to be a reckoning.
Nurse Drake is a medical professional. She is also your last stop before being escorted to the Directors’ Office. We advise campers to hydrate, reflect, and take her seriously.
Ms. Drake has a case of thermometers. Consider yourselves warned.
Rounding out the team is Head Lifeguard Scott, whose deep commitment to water safety is rivaled only by his commitment to letting you know when you’ve disappointed him. He is not certified to treat emotional wounds, but that won’t stop him from trying. Often by handing you a flotation device and reminding you that consequences, like tides, are inevitable.
The Preston Rivers Memorial Wellness Center is not just a place of healing. It is a space for intentional discomfort, earned calm, and the pursuit of becoming someone your counselor could proudly write your guardians about. Together, our team offers wellness in its truest form: structure, self-awareness, and the occasional deeply earned cup of tea.
Camp Thurston invites all campers to visit the Wellness Center—ideally by choice but inevitably by consequence.
